Residents of south Albany living near what was once a Harvey’s Supermarket will once again have easier access to healthier food choices. There will soon be a Food For Less in Albany. Read on to learn more!

The city has searched for the right grocery store chain for the space since Harvey’s closed in early 2019. Finally, they’ve found a good fit! Food For Less in Albany is just what nearby neighborhoods needed. The grocery store will sell more fresh items like fruits and vegetables.

According to a recent article in the Albany Herald, renovations are projected to be complete within nine months of a grant award.

More than Food

Food For Less in Albany isn’t just bringing better food choices to the neighborhood. It will also create more than 70 jobs! The minimum hourly wage is at least $10. For certain positions, it could be more than $16.

Thus, a much needed boost is coming to town. New jobs and a new local grocery store will help create a healthy environment for the area.

Food For Less is located at the intersection of South Slappey Boulevard and West Gordon Avenue. To be specific, the store’s address is 2310 N. Slappey Blvd.
